Founded on Whittaker Creek in 1983, Triton Yachts grew from a small brokerage into a full-service marine campus encompassing yacht sales, transport logistics, a 2.5-acre boat-yard, and dealership rights for Sunfish, Laser, and Catalina sailboats. Our family-run team pairs deep technical know-how with a love of coastal cruising, racing, and community regattas.

A New Helm

Long-time customer and professional hauler Blair Cooper acquires Triton Yachts. Paul & Nancy Welles remain aboard as advisors while the next generation steers the company toward its next 40 years.

Anchoring in Oriental

The Welles family purchases the 2.5-acre Midyette Street property on Whittaker Creek, establishing today’s dry-storage yard and seeding the future Triton Specialized Logistics transport division.

Setting Sail

Paul Welles Sr. and son Paul open Triton’s Cove in Raleigh, NC, representing J/Boats, O’Day and Cape Dory lines. The fledgling showroom lays the keel for what will become Triton Yachts.
